 ???ViewItemFull_lblAbstract???: This report provides an overview of the workshop "Research Ethics in the Age of AI," which addressed the ethical challenges and opportunities presented by generative AI (genAI) in research. The workshop, jointly organized by the Helmholtz Open Science Office and Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy (HIDA), gathered experts from diverse disciplines to explore issues such as the responsible use of AI, and the interlinks between AI and data privacy as well as authorship, and transparency in scientific practices. Key discussions revolved around the importance of maintaining scientific integrity, the challenges of mitigating biases, and the need for adaptable (or “living”) guidelines that support AI literacy and ethical use across research fields. The report concludes with insights for continued collaboration and framework development to uphold ethical standards in AI-driven research at Helmholtz (and beyond).
